Bad Habits...
I have a few good habits - habits I’m proud of, like my morning routine.
I also have a few bad habits - habits I don’t want, mostly centred around my late-afternoon/evening routine.
I obviously never set out to create my bad habits, they just sort of built over time - something felt good or eased a negative feeling one day, so I repeated it. Do that enough times, and, hey presto, a (bad) habit is born.
I built my good habits intentionally - designing them in advance to replace what I had always done, and tweaking them over time until they work every day (and now even bring me joy). And that’s the only thing that will break the bad habits - intentional design of new habits that will eventually replace the old ones.
Of course, the bad habits will put up a fight, but if my good habits are anything to go by, it will be worth it in the end…
