We were watching a webinar about peace and purpose last night, and someone asked how society as a whole could be encouraged to embrace mindfulness and other ‘happiness’ habits.
Immediately I was reminded of the quote (incorrectly) attributed to Gandhi - ‘Be the change you wish to see in the world’.
Too often we think that change needs to happen ‘out there’ by ‘them’, and whilst that’s an admirable hope, in reality, the best way to make meaningful change is in the way that WE act and react to the world around us.
In the past I would probably have asked ‘how can I be mindful when everyone keeps stressing me out ?’. In fact, the most powerful question to ask is simply ‘how can I be mindful…?
