Check the lid...

This post was going to use the ‘fleas in a jar’ experiment (fleas are put in a jar and they jump out, but when a lid is put on the jar they eventually learn to jump no higher than the lid, even when that lid is removed) and I wanted to check if it was true.

Well, the jury is out on that, but I did come across a (genuine) comment from a Professor of Animal Behaviour who had studied fleas extensively, and had never heard of the experiment, so concluded that it was probably fake - which ironically proved the point, if not the existence, of the experiment !

There was a time when you used to jump out of the jar, and then life/work/study put on a lid - when did you last check if the lid was still there…?
