Reacting vs Responding...
There are things to which we need to REACT - a water leak, a cry for help, a set of brake lights ahead - things that need our attention right now.
And there are things to which we need to RESPOND - a question, a change in circumstances, an amber light on the dashboard - things that need our attention, but can wait until we have time to focus and deal with them properly.
The problem is, the shiny rectangle in our pockets with its red circles on icons has trained us to react when we should be responding. The good news is that we can turn those red circles off - and maybe, over time, we can re-learn to save our reactions for the things that really matter…
