Rules...

I like rules.

I like the way that a rule I believe in makes following it simple, negating the hours of thought, justification and analysis that would otherwise take place.

That doesn’t mean that I don’t stretch or break the rules from time to time, but there has to be a good reason, and a belief that doing so will make things better (and that it will lead to better rules).

Goals are important, but the bigger or more distant they are, the more uncertain we become. Rules make things simple, and the simpler things are, the better they become…
