Single-Minded Focus...?
A while ago I rebuilt all of our office workbenches; the existing workbenches had been assembled and re-assembled so many times that all of the worktops were full of holes in all the wrong places - sometimes through necessity, sometimes through error. This time I was DETERMINED to get the worktops right. I planned. I measured. I trialled. I purchased new tools. I measured again. And then again. Twice.
When I was done, I took a step back to admire my handiwork and the worktops were perfect - level, stable, and not an extra hole in sight. Pity I’d put the shelves underneath at completely the wrong height….
A single-minded focus on improvement is a noble aim, but sometimes it’s best to remember that it’s not the only thing that matters…
