The Half-Life Of Enthusiasm...
My inbox is full of things that I thought were interesting when they arrived, and that I would read/complete/action later (but rarely do), and we all have lists of good ideas and worthwhile tasks that never seem to get the first step taken.
Enthusiasm has a half-life - if the chance of us doing something about that idea today is 100%, it’s 50% tomorrow, 25% the day after that, and pretty soon it’s so close to zero as to make no difference.
We can’t just rush into everything, but for the special ideas, taking some small, immediate action maintains our enthusiasm at 100% for another day, and keeps the idea alive….
