For years I diligently kept a To Do list, but it was too easy to just pick the easiest thing to do next, rather than the most important. 

Then I spent a decade with my e-mail Inbox as my to do list, but that just meant that I was giving control of my time to the next ping. 

I also tried just ‘going with the flow’, but rarely ended up getting much important work done.
