Thoughts...
I am currently reading ‘As a Man Thinketh’ by James Allen, the classic essay on how our thoughts play a key role in the direction of our lives, and it started me thinking - if our thoughts determine our actions, and our actions determine our destiny, then surely controlling our thoughts controls our destiny.
Now that’s all well and good, but as we know, controlling our thoughts can be incredibly difficult, but that’s where meditation and mindfulness come in - learning how to regulate and redirect our thoughts is, fundamentally, a way to control them, and whilst we can’t control our thoughts completely, we can use mindfulness to give them a more frequent nudge in the right direction.
I appreciate that this is all rather simplistic, and someone may be along in a minute to drive a double decker bus through my logic, but right now this makes an awful lot of sense, and sometimes making a little more sense of things is all we really need to do…
