Who Is Telling Your Story...?
The Author creates the story and brings events into existence - “I’ll try and catch the ball”
The Narrator tells the story of what is happening or happened - “I caught the ball” or “I didn’t catch the ball”.
The Commentator analyses and expresses opinions on what has happened - “What an idiot. He meant to catch the ball but fumbled it completely. My mum is 84 and she could have caught that !”
All too often we listen to the Commentator in our head, but with focus and patience we can learn to hear the Narrator instead.
(And maybe, with time and effort, we can become the Author and learn to write a better story, where we teach ourselves to catch the ball every single time…)
