It’s a powerful phrase.
But not in a good way.
It places a burden on the other person to change their behaviour around us.
And it excuses us from changing a behaviour we don’t necessarily like.
More accurate, then, to say “I’m choosing to behave like this….”
Because then, at least, we all understand where the responsibility lives…
