Alternative (non-FP) Grey Dot Paper - READ DESCRIPTION - (A5, 50 Sheets)

As you know, our standard paper is no longer available, so we are offering this A5 Lined and Dot paper in 50 sheet packs as an alternative, but are making clear that it is not fountain pen-friendly....

This paper is 120gsm (vs 115gsm) and was the original paper we launched with in 2015 until it was replaced by our standard paper in 2016*

This paper is great with pencil and ball-point pens, but not great with fountain-pens or gel pens.

When used with fountain pens and gel pens it can suffer from minor feathering, ghosting or bleed-through onto the other side of the page, especially when used with wet inks, or when the same spot is written over and over again. This doesn't make the other side of the page unusable, but you will see some ghosting from what was written on the other side with a fountain pen.

I have included some photographs to illustrate what I mean when used with fountain pens (specifically my TWSBI Fine nib with Black ink, and another fine nib with Diamine Blue Steel).

So, if you use a pencil or ball-point pen you should have no issues with this paper, but fountain-pen users probably won't like it. Sorry.

* Why was it replaced ? Because it wasn't consistent enough. Some batches were almost perfect whilst others feathered more than a duck. And that hasn't changed - I tested a batch of this paper and it was great, so I purchased what turned out to be a different batch for printing, only to find that after litho printing, it had developed the ghosting/bleed-through issues...
