A game of chess...

A game of chess...

For me, corporate life felt like 20 year game of chess against a Grand Master - every move, decision and/or e-mail needed to be considered for it’s consequences. Maybe I was playing it wrong, but every challenge or opportunity, every situation, good or bad, needed to be examined extensively, both for its immediate impact, and for its implications a day, month or year in the future. And it was a game played in front of an audience, with my bosses, colleagues and competitors looking on.

These days I’m still playing chess, but now it’s a game played against myself - every move still needs thought and has consequences, but good or bad, the only player that benefits is me.
