Building Trust...
Yesterday my e-mail stopped working.
I half-expected there might be a problem because my provider had emailed me a week or two ago telling me about a server move and all of the ‘improved’ features the move would bring. I was lucky - I managed to find a phone number to speak to a human, and he told me what I needed to change to fix the problem. It also became clear that my e-mail outage was inevitable.
I went back to the notification e-mail and read it again - lots of new features, nothing about how e-mail would stop working - so I made a note to change e-mail provider as part of some website changes I have coming up.
No-one likes delivering bad news, but pretending it doesn’t exist rarely works out well - often it’s not what we don’t do that builds trust, it’s how we do the things that need to be done…
