Is this moving me closer...?
Is this thing I’m doing right now moving me closer to my goal ?
It’s an interesting question, but one that assumes that we are 100% clear on our goals. Some days I think I am - I know where I’m ultimately heading, and I can tell you if this will get me there - but other days I’m not so sure. Obviously those latter days then lead to bigger questions - are there fundamental problems with my goals, or am I just too deep in the work to see the bigger picture ?
In normal times I would have used this as an opportunity to go and sit for an hour or two in my favourite coffee shop and reflect, but for now I’ll have to make do with a coffee at home and the quietest corner of the house I can find, because sometimes checking in with our goals is more important than doing the work that may or may not be getting us there…
