Life On Autopilot...

In aeroplanes, an autopilot is a good idea - it takes care of the thousands of tiny adjustments needed to stay on course, and (if the movies are to be believed) it can be really helpful in an emergency.

In human beings, however, autopilot is not a setting we want to be using too often - zoning out in a zoom meeting wastes a few minutes, absent-mindedly scrolling through social media maybe an hour more, and doing the same unfulfilling work every day ? Well, that can waste years….
