I may be massively behind with my Christmas shopping (it’s OK - we’ve still got weeks right ?) but I already have my 2020 goals clearly defined, and I’ve already started working towards them.
So why the counter-intuitive priorities ? Why focus on next year, when there is an immovable deadline bearing down on me like an 18-wheel juggernaut ?
Well for me it’s about momentum - rather than spend the first part of January deciding what to do and then getting going, I plan to already be fully focused and moving by the time the New Year begins; I still intend to have a good break, but this way there’s less chance of me doing anything that I have to undo a week later. It’s a strategy that has worked well for me in the past, and it feels like it’s time to use it again.
Or, to put it another way, the second mouse may well get the cheese, but by then, the early bird has already finished its breakfast, and is off doing some important flying way off in the distance…
