Where Stress Comes From...
A handwritten page inside an open notebook

Stress comes from the gap between how things are and how we want them to be - the bigger the gap, the greater the stress.

What I’ve noticed with my own stress levels is that it’s rarely one big gap that causes me the most stress, but lots of smaller gaps, each adding their own amount of stress to the pot until it gets full and overflows.

Which would suggest that I can reduce stress by either reducing the size of the gaps (be more accepting of how things are, or not investing so much in a different future), or I can reduce the number of things that add stress to the pot.

It’s an idea that’s ripe for reflection, and whilst the answer might not be immediately apparent, it is probably in there somewhere…
