Protection Mechanisms...
After a brief respite, the pace of daily life seems to be increasing again - more information, presented more urgently and more addictively, giving us little mental space to process it all.
Now, more than ever, we need protection mechanisms - tools, techniques and relationships we can use to help us take a step back from the onslaught, and help us reflect (and work) on what really matters.
It has taken me years, but I have developed a basic toolkit that helps me - morning meditation, reading (of real books), daily walks, occasional journaling and family meal-times. And, of course, mindful cups of coffee.
What mechanisms and routines have you built, and can share ? I think we could all do with some extra ideas right now…
