Saturdays...
Years ago, Saturday seemed more special - a slow-starting, coffee-filled bridge between the grind of the working week and the ‘finally-decompressed’ relaxation of Sunday - a day for (eventually) getting stuff done, running a few errands and (slowly) doing all the chores that we didn’t want to spoil Sunday with.
But things have changed - no longer Sunday’s slightly busier sibling, Saturday has become a ‘slightly-less-worky’ weekday, a day for getting up early, catching up and ‘getting-on’.
I miss the old Saturdays, and maybe they’re the price we have to pay for this ever-connected, opportunity-filled modern world, but I tell you now, if that same modern world thinks it’s going to get it’s grubby hands on my Sundays, it’s got another think coming…
