In my journal this morning I was exploring why sometimes I’m more successful in making a positive change stick, or specifically ‘how come I’ve managed to stick to a healthier eating plan this week?’
Initially I decided it was because I had gone old-school and applied willpower, but I know that doesn’t always last.
Then I remembered that this time I had built a strong reason, but I also know that logic alone rarely works.
And then I realised that this time I had an extra ingredient - pride; as each day goes by, I’m prouder of myself for sticking to the plan, which recharges my discipline and helps me draw greater power from the reason.
It’s sort of a positive change loop….
